LEGACYCODE
What you live becomes what you leave.
01 / The question
What are you putting into the people around you?
You are already influencing somebody.
Ever replay a conversation and wish you could pull back what you said? Or wonder which habits the people close to you are picking up? Our words, moods, choices, and silences land somewhere.
Legacy goes beyond parenting and beyond what people say about you someday. It is what your life is giving to friends, coworkers, neighbors, your church, and the next generation right now.

Some things should not be inherited
What if the wrong things outlive you?
We pass on good things: faith, wisdom, generosity, the habit of showing up. We can also pass on what hurt us, often without meaning to.

The patterns we recognize
The moments where they surface
A tense conversation. A bill you do not want to open. A relationship where nobody says what they mean. The way conflict, money, and faith were handled around us can become the way we handle them, unless we pause and choose another way.
This is a serious question, but it is a hopeful one. A pattern can be named. Help can be sought. A different choice can be practiced.
Sometimes the most important legacy decision is not what you start. It is what you decide will stop with you.
What does God say about what we pass on?
Legacy is not just about being remembered. It is about what keeps living after you.
Scripture pushes us beyond making a name for ourselves. What are our lives producing in the people around us?

Start with a passage
Open a Bible, read one of these, and ask what it could look like in your relationships this week.
- Psalm 78:4-7Tell the next generation
- Deuteronomy 6:5-7Let faith enter daily life
- Proverbs 13:22Leave something good
- 2 Timothy 2:2Pass on what you have learned
- Matthew 6:19-21Notice what you treasure
Good questions
Let’s talk about it.
Big life questions rarely fit in a tidy slogan. These are good places to start the conversation.
How do I know if I am wasting my life?
That question can show up even when your calendar is full. Try asking what your ordinary choices are forming in you and in the people near you. Legacy Code gives us room at FCC Allen to bring that question to God without pretending we already have everything figured out.
What kind of legacy am I leaving?
Look at what you repeat: how you respond under stress, what you give your time to, what you say about others, and how you repair harm. People around you in Allen, at home or at work, feel those patterns more than they hear your intentions.
Can I break unhealthy patterns in my family?
Yes, change is possible, though it often takes time and help. Naming a pattern is a first step. Honest conversations, prayer, wise support, and sometimes professional care can help you practice a different response. You do not have to solve it alone.
What does money have to do with legacy?
Money touches choices about security, generosity, pressure, and what we teach by example. Jesus connects our treasure with our hearts in Matthew 6:19-21. This series asks what our habits with money are passing on, including both generosity and debt.
How can I pass faith to the next generation?
Deuteronomy 6 places faith inside everyday conversation. You do not need a perfect script. Let younger people see you pray, ask questions, apologize, serve, and keep learning. That can happen with children, students, neighbors, or someone newer to faith at church.
Does legacy matter if I do not have children?
Absolutely. Legacy is influence, not a family tree requirement. Friends, coworkers, neighbors, and people at First Christian Church of Allen can carry forward the encouragement, courage, or care you put into their lives.
