An honest Christmas series · First Christian Church of Allen
NOTFEELINGIT
How to hold on to hope when you’re barely holding it together.
Everyone else seems excited. You’re just trying to get through December. Whether Christmas feels wonderful, complicated, or downright exhausting, there’s room for you here.
Hope doesn’t require the perfect holiday.
If December feels heavier than it looks
You don’t have to fake the merry.
Maybe there’s an empty chair at the table. A stack of bills you’re not sure how to pay. Family tension waiting around the corner. You’re exhausted before the month even starts. Or you’ve prayed and prayed, and God still feels far away.
Maybe you love Christmas and you’re doing great. You’re welcome here, too. This series isn’t about pretending life is terrible or pretending everything is fine. It’s about Jesus, who came near to a world that wasn’t all fixed up.
What you’ll take away

Sundays, December 6, 13 & 20 · 10:30 AM
Three Sundays. Real hope.
Three real-life questions. Three Sunday conversations about the hope Jesus brings, even when life doesn’t cooperate. Join us at 10:30 AM, then come back for our special Christmas Eve gathering on December 24.
When God Feels Far Away
Still praying, still waiting, and wondering if God hears you? We’ll look at Zechariah and Elizabeth and discover why God’s silence isn’t proof of His absence.
Luke 1:5–25 · Matthew 11:28–30
Running on Empty
If you’re keeping everything moving while running on fumes, this Sunday is for you. Mary’s story shows how God meets people before they have everything together.
Luke 1:26–38 · Luke 2:1–7
What If Christmas Doesn’t Fix It?
What if the family tension, grief, or disappointment is still there on December 26? Simeon’s story points us toward a hope that doesn’t expire when Christmas is over.
Luke 2:25–35 · John 16:33
First Christian Church of Allen invites you
CHRISTMASEVE.
You don’t need a perfect Christmas to hear good news. Jesus came into an imperfect world, for real people with real lives. Whether you’re celebrating or just trying to get through the week, we’d love to spend Christmas Eve with you.

Allen, TX

Real people. Real questions. Real hope.
Before your first Sunday
Good questions to ask.
Here are a few things that can help you feel at home before you even arrive.

What does FCC Allen believe?
Jesus is at the center of our faith. We read the Bible, take honest questions seriously, and talk about how following Jesus changes ordinary life. Whether you’re exploring faith or have followed Jesus for years, you’re welcome to join the conversation.
What should I wear?
Wear what you’re comfortable wearing. You don’t need special church clothes or a polished version of your week to visit us.
What about my children?
Our current Sunday plan includes a nursery for ages 0–5. Children ages 6–13 begin worship with everyone and are dismissed for class about 15 minutes into the service. Contact our team if you have specific needs.
Where should I park and enter?
For Sunday worship at 1207 Twin Creeks Drive, use the entrance facing the parking lot on the east side of the building.
What happens during the service?
Expect worship through music, a Bible-centered message, and communion (a time to remember Jesus’ death and resurrection). We celebrate communion every week and invite anyone to participate. Plan for roughly 75–90 minutes; the usual goal is closer to 75. Questions and conversation are welcome.
Honest questions. Real answers.
What if I’m not feeling it?
These aren’t questions you have to keep to yourself. Start wherever your life is today.
These are the questions behind our three December Sunday messages. Explore an answer here, then join us for the conversation.
Why does God feel far away?
Luke 1:5–25 · Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)
When prayers go unanswered, it can seem like silence is proof that God has left. Zechariah and Elizabeth knew years of waiting, even as they remained faithful. Their story reminds us that unanswered questions and God’s presence can exist in the same season. Jesus invites weary people to come to Him, not to act like they aren’t weary.
Try this: Name one thing you’re still waiting for. Pray about that one thing honestly, even if your prayer is, “God, I’m having trouble believing You’re listening.” Talk with someone trustworthy if the waiting feels isolating.
How do I handle Christmas when I’m exhausted?
Luke 1:26–38 · Luke 2:1–7 · Matthew 6:25–34 (NIV)
Christmas can be wonderful and still completely drain you. Mary’s story starts with an unexpected assignment and real questions, not a perfectly organized life. God meets her in the middle of it. Jesus teaches us to attend to today’s needs without carrying every tomorrow all at once. That doesn’t erase responsibilities; it gives us permission to live with real limits.
Try this: Choose one December expectation to release. Ask for one specific kind of help or schedule one honest pause. Grace is not another item for your to-do list.
What if Christmas doesn’t fix what’s hurting?
Luke 2:25–35 · John 16:33 (NIV)
A holiday can be beautiful without healing every wound. Simeon waited for God’s rescue and recognized it in Jesus, yet the same story made room for future pain. Biblical hope isn’t pretending trouble is over. It’s trusting the Savior who has come, and who does not abandon His people in their trouble.
Try this: Name one problem you keep hoping December 25 will fix. Bring it into an honest conversation with God, then consider one helpful next step: grief support, a needed conversation, counseling, or asking someone to walk alongside you.

A note from Pastor Chris
You can show up with questions.
Hey, I’m Chris. I know December can feel like everybody else got the Christmas instructions and somehow yours never arrived.
At First Christian Church of Allen, you won’t need to manufacture a smile or pretend every part of life is going great. You can be tired. You can be celebrating. You can wonder where God is. You can even be unsure what you believe about Jesus.
We’re going to open the Bible, talk honestly about what hurts, and pay attention to the hope Jesus brings. Not a magic fix. Something deeper and sturdier than that.
If you’ve got a question or just want to connect, we’d love to hear from you. No need to figure out a perfect church question first.
— Chris

There’s still room for hope.
Come on a Sunday. Ask a question you’ve been carrying. Or come back for the free journal when it’s ready. One next step is enough.
